Driving home from Rockford to Roscoe tonight later than I ever have..(9 ..in the pm) A long drive... I see the streets deserted... no one out in a area with over a quarter of a million people on a fri night?. Its early! Is it because people are broke and cant afford to go out? perhaps.... Very few bowling or dart leagues anymore also...I know the reason.. people are scared of getting a DUI. Do I condone drunks on the road? Of course not. But cant people like me, that have never had a dui, that know better to drive when inebriated but would fail a .08 (5 beers) we cant go out and not worry about getting a dui that costs 1000s of $$$? What happened to this area and the whole country I guess? Im glad when I was young it wasnt like this. Yes we drove when we should not have, but we always knew (most of time) not to drive. Again I do not condone drunk drivers, but I would tonight be labeled as one although I was driving fine and not impaired. I have always known my limits and limitations when driving. ....Its sad that this area is so without any functions, concerts, good bands in bars, bar hopping etc. You cant anymore for the fear of getting that dui blowing a 1.0 after 6 beers. Of course its $$$ mostly for the system...well shut it all down then.. no bars, no activities, no bands, no dart or bowling leagues like there used to be. ...shut down the commerce.. welcome to police state USA.....and going back to drunk drivers that have 3+ duis? They should not get there license back.. no matter how much they pay a system that only cares about $$$$...cause if you have the $$ ? you can get your license back after even 4+ duis..... Be thankful these idiots dont live in W Europe, you get 2 duis there you are done! And ignorant Americans think w europe is nothing but liberal socialists? This is the way to do it! They go on what your income is (fines), like it should be. Your a millionaire you should pay TRIPLE for your offense! Swedish law imposes a penalty on the drunk driver; the penalty depends on the type of accidents that occur because of the offense. the fine in Sweden is based on the income of the offender...... AWESOME! Whats a $200 fine for a millionaire? make them pay $1000s! Another reason w europe is so above us in morality, ethics and justice... I am glad I had fun when young...and didnt have to be so paranoid...Its the REPEAT dui offenders that have ruined it for us all, and again..if they have money, they can keep on driving..
