Dropped the microchipped dog to the humane society as advised by - TopicsExpress

Dropped the microchipped dog to the humane society as advised by the vet. Was told if owner is not found, in 72 hours we have first dibs on its adoption. Today I was informed that the dog was picked up by Chula Vista animal shelter, as the dog was not in their jurisdiction. I asked if it is a kill shelter? Mam, no shelter is a no kill shelter. Also if there is a microchip the hold is five business days not 72 hours. I told them had i known there is a potential she can be killed, and that they would keep the dog in a cage for five days, transport the dog to a kill shelter 25 miles away, and then tell me that shelter likely will not honor my hold, then I would not have brought her in in the first place. Be aware of shelter policies and procedures and get a copy of the paperwork. Do not release animals into this bureaucratic pile of misleading bunk that may lead to unnecessary euthanization. Rescue animals yourself, treat the animal yourself and foster the animal yourself. Now I have to beg the chula vista shelter to honor the contract I had with a shelter who did not have jurisdiction over the animal, and they may not because they do not have to. I told them if they had no jurisdiction, they had no right to take the dog in, in the first place, and should have notified me to pick the dog up! Pieces of lying stupid shit. I am so fed up. no shelter is a no kill shelter my ASS!
