Bikestyle Mtb Winter Series (Juvenile and Under) Race 2. Bob Teare. (Revised version) Despite the mist, rain and cold, 56 young riders turned out for Round 2 of the Bikestyle Winter Mtb Series (Juvenile and Under) over tough course at Conrhenny Plantation on Sunday November 17th. Stanley Cubbon won the Balance Bike / New to Cycling Class from Daniel Garside. With conditions worsening, the under eight races were combined. Isaac Batty was the first under six rider over the line, with BMX star Orry Lund in second. Florence Griffin was the first of the under six girls, with Ella Darnall second. Oliver Corkish got his first win of the series in the under eight category, beating Round 1 winner Ivan Sorby. Ella Griffin won the under eight girls’ race from Round 1 winner Marie Harrison. Jonty Bregazzi stormed to a first win in the Boys’ Under 10 race. It was a photo finish for second between Kewaigue schoolmates Dillon Dowson and Zac Walker, with Dillon getting the verdict by the width of a tyre. A fast improving Tyler Hannay finished fourth. Speedy newcomer Erin de Backer won the Girls’ race from Nancy Wheeler. Conor Davies dominated proceedings in the combined Juvenile & Under 12s race. Just back from a training session at Manchester Velodrome he blew the race apart from the whistle. Dan Scarffe caught Will Draper on the last lap to grab second place. Tara Ferguson got her second win of the season in Juvenile Girls category. In the Boys’ Under 12 race Max Walker broke away with a quarter hour to go to notch up a first win, with Round 1 winner Tosh Teare a distant second. An outstanding ride from Amelia Sharpe won the Girls Under 12 category. The organisers would like to thank the team from St John’s Ambulance for all their help on the day. BB/New to Cycling: 1.
