(Photo: vnexpress.net) Ho Chi Minh city customs officials have seized 1.5 kilograms of pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, drug precursors, mixed with saffron honey in three jars, which was intended to be sent to Australia. Officers at the Ho Chi Minh city Express Delivery Customs Sub-Department, found the three jars declared as saffron honey suspicious, when they were examining them on September 22. Samples of the substance from three jars were sent for testing. On September 25 the officers received the substance analysis results from the Criminal Science Sub-Institute in Ho Chi Minh city, identifying the three samples of a viscous yellow substance containing pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, drug precursors to produce crystal methamphetamine.. The consignor of the three jars of “saffron honey”, weighing 2.6 kilograms, is a person residing in HCMC’s District 8 and the consignee is an individual in Australia, customs officers said. The case is under further investigation. On August 19 and 21, the sub-department also discovered and seized four kilograms of pseudoephedrine camouflaged in eight bars of palm sugar together with coconut candy, dried fish and edible seaweed to be sent to Australia./.
