Drum Roll !$#!$!%!~! Here it is , Titled Heart of Gold to benefit Le Bonheur Childrens Hospital . 2014 Le Bon Appetit, a prestigious culinary event featuring 40 of the nations most celebrated chefs including event organizer Chef Kelly English of Memphis Restaurant Iris and the Second Line, For this years annual event , there will only be one piece of Art up for Auction and I was selected to be the artist to create that one piece . I wanted to create something very different yet I wanted it to also be something that the guests can resonate with and tie it to the reason of the event . Prior to beginning the art , I met with Chef Kelly English and gave him a general idea of what I was thinking - both of us excited ... he suggested that I try to incorporate the Le Bonheur tilted heart into my work . Im not a heart type of artist so I had my work cut out.... The over all inspiration of the piece is kids..... anything kids... so the colors I used represent Bubble Gum , Taffy , Cotton Candy , finger paints , tie dye , balloons ..... I took those colors and those kids concepts and merged the colors as a child would probably do . In the center .... the heart . the Heart of Gold . A kids heart is so precious and innocent ... its like Gold ..... BUT also ... the many many people that come together for this event to bring awareness and contributions to the cause - are also hearts of Gold . So I found it fitting to take Kellys suggestion and tilt the heart on the frame surrounded by the colors and dance of children . The heart is covered in part with 14kt Gold . May this years Bon Appetit be a huge success . I am very thankful and honored to be part of such a great cause ! The event is Saturday night , Minglewood Hall . *** does this now take me from being an Artist to a heartist ? LOL
