Dry and Calm Through the Period; Poor Air Quality Next Week The dry winter weather looks to continue into the near future, as a ridge of high pressure remains firmly anchored over the Northwest. It is likely that no measurable precipitation will fall in Washington for at least the next 7 to 10 days. Although a very weak system passing well to our north will flatten the ridges amplitude this weekend, it will have little impact on our weather other than to bring a slight chance of drizzle to the coast. As the ridge amplitude rebounds next week, the largest concerns will be poor air quality, as well as low clouds and fog in the lowlands. Temperatures will generally remain relatively mild, but will be tricky from day to day depending upon the location. Any areas that stay mired in low clouds and fog will have smaller diurnal swings, with warmer than average nights and near average days, while clear lowland areas will experience near average night-time temperatures and mild days.
