Dude: Im in finance...used to work for a hedge fund. Now Im at a start-up that gives loans faster than a bank. You? Me: Im a writer... (silence) Dude: Thats cool... Followed by a haphazard synopsis of my resume, and then attempts at lightening the dullness in it all with descriptions of my off-beat but lovable office and how my friend was a rugby player in college after he said that was one of his hobbies. That convo was the equivalent of trying to grab a minuscule stuffed animal with a crane in one of those impossible, rip-off games at a bowling alley or somewhere equally depressing. #ugh #igiveup #buyingcats
