Due to a high number of returns filed using suspected stolen - TopicsExpress

Due to a high number of returns filed using suspected stolen personal IDs that were received during the recent six-month filing extension, the Department of Taxation (ODT) is advising taxpayers and tax practitioners that the issuance of legitimate tax refunds may unfortunately be delayed. The department has systems in place to detect possible fraud and has added additional personnel to help fulfill legitimate refund requests and expedite reviews and inquiries from taxpayers. The Ohio Tax Commissioner is also alerting taxpayers and tax practitioners that refunds may also be delayed during the tax filing season beginning January 2015 because of a continuing effort to intercept returns filed using stolen IDs.
