Due to bitterly cold temperatures, Butler University is operating - TopicsExpress

Due to bitterly cold temperatures, Butler University is operating on a two-hour delay Wednesday, January 7. Dining Services will operate on normal winter break hours and the HRC will open at 10:30 a.m. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory/warning for Central Indiana through Thursday morning, with wind chills reaching 20 to 30 below zero at times. At these temperatures, exposed skin can become frostbitten in as little as 10 minutes. To stay safe, we recommend that you minimize outdoor activities and dress in several layers of loose clothing under a water resistant coat, rather than a single layer of heavy clothing. Protect your extremities by wearing a hat, mittens, and waterproof boots. Cover as much of your face as possible and breathe through a scarf or other clothing to protect your lungs. Campus leadership will continue to monitor conditions to determine if further delays are necessary. Notifications will be made through butler.edu, local radio and TV stations, email to butler.edu addresses, and voicemail and text message alerts through DawgAlert. You also can find updates via Twitter by following @DawgAlert or @ButlerU. Thank you and please stay safe and warm this week.
