Due to school negligence, career of class 12 students put in peril Srinagar, July 8: Just a day prior to their bi-annual examination the class 12 students of Bright Horizon Higher Secondary Institute Humhama in central Kashmir’s Budgam district are in deep trauma as they are not able to get the Roll Number slips required to appear in examination. The students claim they have fulfilled all the formalities including examination forms and fee as per instructions of Board regulations but the school clerk meant for Board related activities is absconding. According to Global News Service, the career of six students including four boys and two girls of Bright Horizon institute has been jeopardized as the school clerk Showkat Ahmad Malla who is meant for discharging Board related duties had not forwarded the examination forms of these students to Board of School Education. “We had submitted the examination forms to school authorities in due time along with exam fee but as we approached for Roll No. slips we were shocked to hear that school authorities had not forwarded our forms to Board of School Education,” said a student Ubaid Ahmad while weeping bitterly, adding that our career has been put in peril by school authorities. “As we approached the Board of School Education, the officials categorically told us that our children cannot appear in the said examination as the school administration has not forwarded your examination forms,” said Ghulam Rasool, a parent of another student. Acting Principal, Bright Horizon Institute Syed Sahab confirmed to GNS that we did not receive the admit cards of the students appearing in bi-annual exam as the clerk had not forwarded their forms. “He is absconding from past week along with the fee amount of students of other classes as well,” he said, adding that we have also initiated an inquiry in this regard. When contacted PRO JKBOSE Showkat Ahmad, said there is only one day left for examinations and we cannot sort out such problem in a day. “The whole mess lies within the school administration.” He said we have already issued roll number slips to all the concerned school authorities on time and any immediate decision on this issue cannot be made out. “The students cannot appear in examination at any cost.” Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Front Imtiyaz Ahmad told GNS that school itself is responsible for harming the career of these students. “The need of the hour is to take steps to save the career of the students.” When contacted Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tariq Mir, said that strict action would be taken against the said school authorities. For the sake of students, I will request Chairman JKBOSE to sort out any possible way out for these affected students so that they may not lose the current year, Mir added. Meanwhile, parents of the affected students have appealed Chairman JKBOSE and Minister of Education Tara Chand to look into the matter at earliest so that their wards may not suffer by losing the whole year.
