Due to the dozen people hitting me up Ill say one thing about the Kevin Gates show. The show did get cancelled... but not why many of you think it did. The main statement that Kevin Gates wasnt going to show up was actually false. I did see Gates pull up In the back. Now with that said, whether or not he would have actually performed I cant say. For 40 grand I dont think he was just there to hang out... BUT as an artist myself I can say I was also supposed to perform tonight and I backed out because their sound setup was the equivalent of being played off of a walkie talkie. I put my all into everything and that includes making sure the crowd can understand what Im saying. Thats just me though. In whole, the event was highly unorganized, and that played a part into why it was cancelled. However. The actual reason it was shut down was once again due to people not knowing how to act right, resulting in about 10 different fights and from what I heard...a gun was pulled. After all that, what can you really expect to happen. I mean besides improperly setting up and poor managing of the concert you cant really blame the promoter for his first show in South Dakota. With all that being said, I do believe that everyone should be refunded though, plain and simple. If we want to continue to have hip hop shows in this city, we need to learn how to act at them first.
