Duke is tired this evening, he had to stop and set down in the middle of our 5 minutes walk. Just looking at his gray muzzle and tired eyes breaks my heart, the love of an old dog should be cherished-not thrown away. We sat on the porch for awhile and he rolled over for me to rub his mangy belly, and I did. An old dog is a blessing from god, Dukes wise face and gentle nature far exceed the beauty of any puppy. His scarred snout and slow step tell me about an aged, tired body but his spirit has not dulled. An old dog is one of the greastest joys in life.
