During a hunt, a student once said to me, We should probably move - TopicsExpress

During a hunt, a student once said to me, We should probably move to another spot. It doesnt seem like anything is going to happen here. Me: What, in a quantifiable way, is the difference between seeming like something is about to happen versus seeming like something will not happen? Ten minutes later, she shot her first deer. In the wild, anything can happen at any moment. It doesnt matter how cold the air is and how grey the sky. Past performance is not an indication of future success. Ten hours of nothing can suddenly be followed by 30 seconds of frenzied activity. There is no difference between the hour before the deer of your dreams appears versus the hour before nothing happens. It is the wild. You are not in control and you are not in the loop.
