During my travels, I observed misunderstandings between the regions of the world, ranging from the perception of safety, people, wealth and so on. But today, lets focus on the mystical word of the East: kung fu. Especially in the regions of Latin America and Africa, I was often approached by random locals, followed by such conversation: Hello! are you from China? Can you teach me kung fu? Sometimes, they tried to imitate the sounds and actions of Bruce Lee (huaachaaa!). I suspected that my skin color gave them that sort of impression. I felt that the word kung fu, being associated with fighting and martial arts, is perhaps one of the most misunderstood word in these regions. Recently, I found one part of Marco Polo series that explained the a version that is closer to the original writing of 功夫 (kung fu in mandarin), and thought is is something worth sharing. youtu.be/7T4N3hbAtAg Perhaps, one day, the word kung fu can become detached with the word to fight. Perhaps, that might be the day we find inner peace through work.
