During the 90s, these players were dominating the Chess scene in our State and they quit. Not necessarily used to finish first, but these were the most well known faces. This was around the time I entered the Chess Scene. 1) Arjun Janakiraman 2) N Pradeep 3) N Pramod 4) Madhusudhan (there were 2 of them) 6) Sunad Rangarajan. 7) Sunil Rangarajan 8) Perveez Abdulla. 9) Sydney Lewis (I think he is back, but yet to see a full fledged comeback as a player) 10) Shivananda Pai. 11) Vardhana 12) S.M.Dixit 13) R Hemalatha 14) Zulfiqar Ahmad 15) A R Ramprasad. (Old age, wasnt that top a player though) 16) Chethan (Mysore kid, committed suicide) 17) Rohit Prabhu (Rohit holds Sunil was the headline once in Times of India. Again, not a top player, but he is my first ever practice partner and was my classmate most of the years from Grade one to Grade 10!) 18) Ramchandran. 19) Jonathan Utarid 20) Abid Majid (Baldwins kid) 21) Chitra Sridhar Only few people who are active in Chess since 1992 (my entry) to this day are 1) Hanumantha (entered in the late eighties after quitting Kabaddi) 2) Arvind Shastry (early nineties) 3) N Sanjay
