During the Spanish-American War, Clara Barton was overseeing the work of the Red Cross in Cuba. One day Colonel Theodore Roosevelt came to her, wanted to buy food for his sick and wounded Rough Riders. But she refused to sell him any. Roosevelt was perplexed. His men needed the help and he was prepared to pay out of his own funds. When he asked someone why he could not buy the supplies, he was told, Colonel, just ask for it! A smile broke over Roosevelts face. Now he understood the provisions were not for sale. All he had to do was simply ask and they would be given freely. And this is the simple requirement we need to gain one of the most profound virtues ever - just ask. James said, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Now we all lack wisdom in various areas of our lives. All God is asking us to do to get it, is to ask, and to ask in faith, not doubting. There is no problem you cannot overcome by the force of Wisdom, no obstacle you cant scale. Take every limit off your mind today and approach the Lord in faith. Ask Him for Wisdom, and He will grant you.
