During the recent cold spell we had a pipe freeze in the basement. While I was thawing the pipe with a hairdryer and stuffing insulation in a small hole my eye caught sight of something sticking out of the underside of the floor joist above. Using my cell phone flashlight, I more closely examined what appeared to be the tip of the bottom of a shoe! I tried to dislodge it but the heal was caught on something. With numb cold fingers I eventually pulled out the remains of a very old, dirty shoe! Im very excited to have found what could be a 19th century shoe from one of the Tates!
