During the roaring 20’s the Pfeiffer family had enough money to keep the farm going and the children supplied with everything necessary. Lillian and Marilyn were blessed with nutritious home grown food as well as a malt flavored dry food supplement called Melonfood . The times changed when Daniel B. Pfeiffer was born in 1931. Adele felt a little responsible for her skinny little Danny boy as they could no longer afford the supplement given to his older siblings. When Dan was around 10 or 11 he made his first trade for wheels by taking a wagon bought for his sisters to Benny Cook and trading it for a bicycle. Years later his dad, Floyd couldn’t believe that his shy little boy wanted to try and sell cars door to door in Byron Center. Dan would go to the farmer’s door and knock. When they came to the door he hung his head down and quietly asked, “You don’t want to buy a car do you”? Automobiles were in Danny’s blood. He took that drive inside to start his very own used car lot with the help of a loan from his parents. His success in the early days gave later gave him the opportunity to obtain the Lincoln Mercury Franchise in Grand Rapids. From not enough to buy a bike Dan has owned and run 5 car lots, a Baymont Inn, Restaurant, Bird Seed and candy companies, two Costa Rica resorts, and multiple valuable properties including his own 7000 square foot log home. I am currently writing this from my office at Pfeiffer Lincoln. As the nephew of Dan I just have one question for you. You don’t want to buy a car do you?
