During this time of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the creativity of the Greensburg-Jeannette Branch in sponsoring a very successful public lecture featuring Dr. Ralph E. Goldbolt of Cheyney University on October 28. Dr. Godbolt, a noted scholar, lectured on hip hop culture and the ways violence and poverty impact African American children and youth, and what we leaders can do to help our communities. I am also grateful for our annual Thanksgiving Day service that featured dynamic preaching from Elder Reed Moore and Evangelist Earnestine Moore of First Unity Church of God in Christ, Jeannette. The Moores inspired us, and so did the talented Greater Parkview Church Mime Team and the soul-stirring Workshop Choir from First Unity. Thanks to Greater Parkview for hosting these worthwhile events! May they strengthen us in our collective work to dismantle racism and bigotry in all of their forms.
