Dutch Towns & Waterways Itinerary Full of hidden gems, this river cruise is the ideal way to see in spring. We will take you on a trip around the IJsselmeer and its tributaries will unveil a plethora of attractions. The quaint harbours and fishing villages will whet your appetite for the wonderful surprises waiting to be revealed on our excursions. Discover priceless works of art and visit a sleepy medieval village housing one of the world’s largest planetarium. You also have the option to see better-known areas such as the Keukenhof Gardens and cosmopolitan Amsterdam. Day One: UK - Arnhem We travel to Arnhem where we board our ship for the first evening. Day Two: Arnhem - Zutphen Explore Arnhem, the site of one of the fiercest battles of World War II, or join us on our optional tour to the De Hoge Veluwe National Park, home to the Kröller-Müller museum. We will then retire to our ship, which will be waiting in the attractive town of Zutphen. Day Three: Zutphen – Kampen - Lemmer The ship will then leave for Kampen on the edge of the IJsselmeer. You then have the option to visit wonderful Het Loo Palace, a former home of the Dutch royal family, while the ship cruises to the traditional fishing port of Lemmer. Day Four: Lemmer – Franeker - Harlingen We will cruise to the historic town of Franeker where you can visit one of the world’s oldest working planetariums. From there, we’ll rejoin the ship in Franeker and sail to the old Friesian seaport of Harlingen for a relaxed evening. Day Five: Harlingen – Enkhuizen - Hoorn Our next destination is the picturesque former seaport of Enkhuizen. While berthed here, you can visit the historic town and its famous marina. Also in the town is the well-known Zuiderzeemuseum. We will then cast off for our overnight stay in the port of Hoorn. Day Six: Hoorn – Volendam - Amsterdam Once in the fishing port of Volendam, you can then choose to join us on an optional excursion to the magnificent floral displays at Keukenhof Gardens. Our ship will be waiting in Amsterdam and you can admire the city on an optional evening cruise along its canal system.
