Dutch man gives back Israeli medal in protest against massacre in Gaza A Dutch man who’d been awarded one of Israel’s highest medals returned the title in protest against Israel’s offensive and killing of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. 91-year-old Henk Zanoli was given the title for saving a Jewish boy during World War Two. In a letter to Israel’s ambassador to the Netherland, he’s written that after the death of four generations of his family by Nazi Germany, now his family is facing similar murders in Gaza. Zanoli is related to the Palestinians through one of his nieces who married a Palestinian man. He’s said that six distant relatives, including a grandmother and a child, were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
