Dwindling Tuesday After Work club riders with dwindling light ... Went out with the conviction of riding second pace group on account of not having done much riding over the past couple weeks and had ridden 30 miles just the day before. Rain/cold weather coming, so figured it a good idea to get in what riding I could. Showing up with only several minutes to spare, I told Kirk I wasnt riding first pace group. He came back within a couple of minutes to state ... we ARE the first pace group. I questioned that only to learn that there were maybe 10 riders total that evening and that Kirk and I were pretty much it for a faster pace group. So we rode out first ... and alone. Light to mod winds out W, becoming calm by rides end. Temps dropping from 70 to 60 degrees during the ride. It was a good ride, but harder than I had hoped to do on account of there were only two of us to share the pulling. And I did do a handful of decent pulls, although Kirk did the lions share as ususal. Had a 21 mph average by the time we crossed Nelson Bridge, but dropped a half mph from that average going up Goulds Hill on account that Kirk sat up and I was more than content to just sit in. Made up most of that riding down Williamsville and River Roads in the dwindling light to post a 20.8 mph avg at the finish. Low for a Tuesday night club ride, but our fastest speed to date (by over a mile per hour) riding just the two of us. Kirk had been after me for some time to do a ride together and it was fortuitous that it was handed to us the way it was.
