EAMCET rank list to exclude intermediate board marks from 2015 From the academic year starting 2015, the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) rank list will exclude the intermediate board marks, as per a recent decision of the governments of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Telangana. From the next year, the two states are expected to have their own intermediate boards to conduct the examinations for Classes XI and XII. The two state governments have decided to do away with the system of assigning weightage to the intermediate marks in the final ranking for EAMCET, since a common entrance examination with two separate intermediate boards will need a normalization process to prepare the EAMCET rank list. The normalization procedure is in use already for the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) in order to prepare the all-India rank list. However, the process has faced a lot of criticism and several cases have been filed in courts. According to sources, cancelling the system of 25% Intermediate weightage may prove to be a positive measure as the normalization process is not favored by many. However, regarding a common entrance examination as well as separate one, the two governments have different options. One proposal involves devising a normalization process and the other is to do away with the process the assigning weithtage to the EAMCET scores. The normalization process utilized in the JEE Main and the top 20 percentile for JEE Advanced had adversely affected the chances of several students in gaining entry into IITs and NITs. EAMCET 2014 was held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 and the Results were declared on Monday, June 09, 2014. This examination is essential for admission into various engineering and medical colleges. The Intermediate public examinations are usually held in March every year and the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) releases the schedule for the public examinations generally in October.
