EBOLA: Newspaper publisher Dr Sylvia Blyden has resigned her position as special executive assistant to Sierra Leones President Ernest Bai Koroma. In a copy of her resignation letter posted to Facebook, Blyden cited reasons which I explained to you during our closed-door discussions. Her resignation came after criticism of the governments figures that seemed to suggest a significantly smaller number of combined victims and survivors than actual registered cases. Blyden posted a response to the criticism, which was reported in her newspaper, the Awareness Times. Mentioning a series of blunders, Blyden wrote: The fact is that a few of these unaccounted-for numbers are currently admitted in Ebola centers but I can categorically state today that the vast majority of the [over] 1,000 patients are already DEAD and lying in their graves. Yes, they are dead and buried! Hundreds of them! :-( May their souls rest in peace. As some have repeatedly stated for months now, the numbers we are being given from Health Ministry as official Ebola death figures are absolutely incorrect Blyden claimed that the erroneous death figures were not the result of deliberate massaging by government, but caused by deliberate massaging but a flight of common sense.
