ECOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT By AAO GHAR LOUTEN Col (Dr) J P Singh, retd 9650843189 Ecology and environment play an important role in sustenance of life on this earth. If this fine system is disturbed then nature adopts its own course to balance it through natural calamities like floods, droughts, earthquakes, sunamee and storms etc, To prevent against such odds, we must try to keep the ecological balance by the following means:- a. Preserve wild life. b. Do not cut trees rather plant more trees? c. Be vegetarian d. Conserve water e. Educate people about its importance f. Do not disturb the natural instinct g. Prevention against water, air and noise pollution. h. As far as possible live with nature. Environmental pollution means any material in solid, liquid or gaseous form which is injurious to elements of environment or likely to make it injurious by its density. We realise the injury to environment by its change in smell, taste and colour. Growth of population and rapid industrialization is the main cause to environmental pollution. Due to heavy industrialisation numerous gases and chemicals are released in the environments that are injurious to our health and living. According to survey, 2000 tons of CO2 is released all over the world per hour of which half part of CO2 is consumed by nature and remaining half part remains on the earth. These gases and chemicals generate lot of human diseases and sufferings which has become a common phenomenon in today’s world. Therefore, we must realize and take precautionary steps and measures for saving the ecology and environment. It is my humble request to adopt slogan of “SAVE ENVIRONMENT SAVE TREES” and take a pledge to plant as many trees as possible and be saviour of the earth”
