:: ECOSOC FORUM ON YOUTH 2014 :: “#Post2015: Youth Leading Forward”: 2-3 February 2015 The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is organizing its 2015 ECOSOC Youth Forum, “#Post2015: Youth Leading Forward” which will take place on 2-3 February 2015 in New York. This forum is organized as part of the preparatory process for ECOSOC’s 2015 Annual Ministerial Review (AMR), to be held in July 2015 on the theme: “Managing the transition from MDGs to SDGs: what will it take?” The ECOSOC Youth Forum will be an important step in incorporating young people’s voices and their priorities in the post-2015 agenda. Youth representatives will have the opportunity to engage in an interactive discussion with one another and with Member States and, will be open to young people and representatives of youth organizations and networks. The UN in Bangladesh will be sending two young delegates to attend the ECOSOC forum and engage in the discussions on the priorities for the post 2015 agenda. The selected participants will share their perspectives of priorities for the post 2015 agenda as young Bangladeshi’s who have a good understanding of key development issues and how these impact on a majority of the young people in the country. Selection Criteria for Youth Representatives Representatives must be: a. Aged between 15 to 29 years b. Able to communicate in at least one of the six official languages of the United Nations c. Represent youth-led organizations, networks or movements and have the ability to consult with a wider group of young people The organizations and networks represented should: a. Adhere to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and should not act in contravention to the principles and values of the Charter of the United Nations b. Demonstrate a commitment to promoting the priorities of the World Programme of Action on Youth c. Have internal democratic and transparent processes of leadership, decision-making and consultation d. Be independent, unaffiliated with any political party Priority will be given to representatives and organizations who: a. Represent marginalized or disadvantaged groups b. Have been involved in organizing or participating in national, regional or global thematic consultations on the post-2015 agenda or ICPD Beyond 2014 Global Youth Forum c. Have participated in the MyWorld2015 survey and are members of the Global Partnership for Youth in the Post 2015 Agenda Selection process: • All interested candidates are requested to send in their CV with a cover letter (no more than one page, font size12, 1.15 line spacing) detailing why they would be the best candidate to represent the concerns of Bangladeshi youth at the ECOSOC Youth Forum. The CV and cover letter should be sent as attachments via e-mail to unyouthbgd@gmail on or before midnight on 29 November 2014, with the subject title ‘ECOSOC 2014’. You could also send your applications via postal mail to: Adolescent and Youth Unit, UNFPA Country Office, 15th Floor, IDB Bhaban, E/8-A Begum Rokeya Sharani, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka-1206 to reach us on or before 12 noon on 4 December 2014. Applications which fail to meet the above criteria, will not be considered in the selection process. • Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the written test and interview.
