EDO UNITY LEAGUE (EUL) RESPECTFULLY ENDORSE THE NOMINATION AND SUBSEQUENT ELECTION OF COMRADE AIYAMENKHUE COLLINS EDOKPOLO AS APC LEGISLATIVE CANDIDATE FOR THE 2015 EDO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ELECTION The board of trustees and members of a foremost socio-intelligentsia organization poised to promote positive and healthy propagation of the cherished values of meaningful and functional education and its enormous benefits to the teeming population of Edo people, being the resolution of the Group at an exclusive meeting recently held in Benin City to cross-pollinate and clinically analyze the fluid-trust that surrounds the fast-approaching 2015 general elections and its aspirants. While taking a microscopic look at the dramatis personae who have indicated interest to represent the good people of Ikpoba-Okha in the Edo Assembly; while we may not want to go into the details of meeting for the sake of space and convenience, we wish to state in clear and unequivocal terms that the League has found a prominent socio-cultural Leader who have consistently propagated the needs and yearnings of the Benins on local and international discourse deserving of productive and constructive representation of Ikpoba-Okha people in EDHA2015. Far as the EUL may be non-partisan and do not in any way actively busy itself in politics, far as it does not project or prepare its members for political jamboree or contestations, far as it does not belong to any registered political party or practitioner, as a group of like-minds who conjugate periodically to constructively engage successive governments for good-governance structures and propagation, justiceable practicalities, while rejecting bitter-politicking which in no little way set meaningful development of the people and environment on a snail-speed if not completely dead, it has a standing order to consistently forge developmental paths, bringing such to the front-burner of succeeding administrations. Majority members of EUL are drawn from the business circle, academics, tourists, content developers, religious practitioners, undergraduates, market women, unemployed and good-spirited individuals, etc with development-minded disposition. It has members in the diaspora whose responsibility it is to propagate and sue for justiceable dispositions particularly for members and Nigerians in diaspora. As part of EUL’s tradition to continuously x-ray persons and groups who aspire to serve and represent public interests, it called an exclusive session to clinically analyze personalities for 2015 election; drawing from its believe that political office holders must place public interest over and above personal interest. We wish to state without equivocation that EUL is far from being a gallery-seeking organization that tends to promote individuals and groups for personal aggrandizement, we stand firm and just on accountability and fair play in the discharge of our God-given duties. As a result of this unbiasedness, we always go necessarily far in constructively engaging deserved individuals. Members and trustees of Edo Unity League have on several occasions celebrated the uncommon achievements of individuals who have served the general interest of the people. Prof. O. G. Oshodin, VC, UNIBEN remains one intellectual figure and public servant whose sound and human-face administrative prowess have endeared him to the hearts of Edo people in particular. EUL have on several occasions eulogized the Comrade Governor of Edo State for heralding uncommon human, capital and infrastructural development to our State. Comrade Aiyamekhue Collins Edokpolo in his socio-cultural, academic and political capacity, have consistently showcased daunting challenges that slows developmental pace in Edo land, while calling on successive governments to ensure meaningful development of the people. We make bold as to say that Ikpoba-Okha people will make the right choice in nominating and electing this prominent socio-intelligentsia Leader to represent the Local Council in Edo State House of Assembly come 2015. As we look forward to a successful and hitch-free election year, we must stand solidly behind personalities who have selflessly extended a hand of fellowship in forging sustainable development ideas and policies which on several occasions have brought soccour relevance to successive governments and its practitioners. Commonsensically, it is government’s basic responsibility to ensure that the public is fully carried along in its operations, but where there is disconnect, the people feels alienated from the same government they elected to office, with hopes and assurances dashed abruptly. Comrade Aiyamenkhue Edokpolo have constantly see himself as part of the grass-root and remains an uncommon humble personality and figure who has endeared himself in the hearts of Edo elders, academics, market women, students, the Benin traditional institution particularly, and the who’s who. The BOT, EUL which consists of notable Edo intelligentsias, economists and traditionalists is convinced beyond every reasonable doubt that Aiyamenkhue of the famous Edokpolo dynasty will continue to project, preserve and protect the good fortunes of the Edokpolos as well as the rich and sacred social, cultural, academic, political and economic values of the Benins nation. We respectfully call on the very receptive and amiable people of Ikpoba-Okha to rally round Edokpolo in his bid to constructively represent the people in the Edo Assembly while staking our hard-earned long-standing reputation for the actualization of his tripartite agenda of GRASSROOT CONSULTATION, DEMOCRATIC ARTICULATION and CONSTRUCTIVE REPRESENTATION. We call on the teeming people of Ikpoba-Okha Constituency to partner with ECO 2015 Group in every reasonable way in actualizing these 3-dimensional points proposed to further chart new and idealistic ways-forward to alleviating our collective worries, yearnings, lacks and wants of which Aiyamenkhue Collins Edokpolo completely shares. Let us look, listen and choose. NOW IS THE TIME!
