EID FITR: Saraki, Emir disagree =========== More controversy emerged on Sunday over the appropriate date for the commemoration of the Muslim festival, Eid-Fitr, as the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and a former governor of Kwara State, Sen. Bukola, has disagreed sharply over the date. This is coming on the hills of similar disagreement between the Ilorin Emir and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji (Dr) Abubakar Sa’ad (III). Whereas, the Sultan announced today (Sunday) as Sallah day, the Ilorin Emir has been severally reported as saying that the moon had not been clearly sighted, and that therefore, there would be no Sallah celebration in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital today. But while the Emir was overruling the Sultan, ex-governor Saraki announced the ‘successful completion of the Ramadan fast’ and congratulated the Muslim ummah (faithful) on the ‘illustrious celebration…among Muslims all over the world.” “Even as I urge Islamic religious leaders from the Emirs, to Sheiks, and Imams to further emphasize the core themes of Islam to their followers after Ramadan; I also urge us let our fervent prayers for Nigeria exceed Ramadan season. Lets continue to pray for peace, restoration and stability in Nigeria particularly as 2015 is approaching.” “Ahead of 2015, I want to use this annual occasion to implore Nigerians not to give up in the quest for a better nation, let not give in for a leadership based on sympathy and monetary value we stand to gain but on ground of competence and strong will to take Nigeria to a greater height. Lets ensure we stay very united and indivisible by religion, ethnic, moral or political lines; because unity is a strong weapon for a better nation.” “On behalf of the people of Kwara central and Senate Committee on Environment, I wish you all Happy Eid -el-Fitr celebrations.” facebook/204425183077510/photos
