EIGHT people have died on the Great North Road in two separate road traffic accidents in Chibombo and Kapiri Mposhi. In the Chibombo accident, five people died on the spot in an accident that involved a Zambian Scania truck and trailer registration number AAR7747 T and a Zimbabwean refrigerated truck registration number ABC 0185 belonging to Rebert Burns Refrigeration Transport Limited which collided head on. Central Province Commissioner of Police Standwell Lungu said the accident happened near Ibis Gardens around 03:30 hours and four people survived. And in the other accident, Mr Lungu said three died on the spot on the Great North Road in Mangala area of Mkushi. Mr Lungu said the road traffic accident happened around 05:50 hours when a Kabwe bound Mitsubishi Canter registration number ACV 8737 had a front tyre burst. The vehicle, thereafter lost control and hit into a stationary Scania truck registration number T384 BZK. Via Zambia Daily Mail
