EKITI 2014: PDP CONSENSUS CANDIDATE EMERGES THIS MONTH There are indications that the consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), for Ekiti State governorship election coming up in June will emerge this month. Daily Sun can report authoritatively that the National Consensus Screening Committee is working to ensure a crisis-free process that will throw up a candidate that will be acceptable to stakeholders in the state. Although some aspirants like the former Governor of the state, Chief Ayodele Fayose are in support of the partys primaries, it was learnt that the party had decided to settle for a consensus candidate to avoid crisis that always trailed party primaries. Unconfirmed report however, had it that the governorship ticket had been zoned to Ekiti South Senatorial District that had not produced governor in history of the state. Against this backdrop, the contest for party ticket therefore, would be among former deputy governor of the state, Abiodun Aluko, son of the late renowned economist, Prof. Sam Aluko, Senator Gbenga Aluko and a lawyer, former Afenifere National Publicity Secretary. Meanwhile, a group of former local local government chairmen have thrown their weight behind the aspiration of the former deputy governor, Abiodun Aluko.
