ELECRAMA -2014 CURTAIN RAISER ELECRAMA-2014 is poised for a quantum leap in terms of event experience, ambience, context, commerce and is moving to the newest and world-class exhibition location in the country – Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bangalore. ELECRAMA’s philosophy of evolution based on continuous innovation, improvisation based on participant feedback, has driven this radical transformation. Taking a quantum leap; ELECRAMA-2014 will be a generation ahead, in terms of core services, features and amenities - highest quality on par with international standards. The exhibition and the slew of concurrent events will broaden the perspectives for a modern business person and will offer a strong interface with the key decision makers like governments, electrical utilities, funding agencies, technical specialists, EPC contractors, electrical consultants and academic communities. ELECRAMA-2014 is envisaged to be an experience beyond compare from its previous ten editions. ELECRAMA has always received overwhelming response from domestic and overseas business visitors, including from power utilities, technical consultants and engineering project contractors. ELECRAMA has emerged as the world’s largest electrical transmission and distribution exhibition showcasing India’s manufacturing capability and strengths to the global community. Manufacturers, traders, utilities, consultants and decision makers from over 100 countries, market leaders with their latest products in the fields of power transmission and distribution will converge at ELECRAMA-2014. The highlights are an International T&D Conclave, TRAFOTECH - International Conference on Transformers, CEO Summit, CIGRE Tutorials, Innovation Day with cross stakeholder debate and Awards ceremony. ELECRAMA is the world’s biggest event in T&D, it is already growing after every addition. We have large scale plans to make ELECRAMA-2014 much bigger , better even than ELECRAMA- 2012. ELECRAMA-2014 will be a WORLD CLASS EXIBITION in terms of Plans, Ambience & Infrastructure. With economic deceleration and the sluggish growth in the power sector along with escalating imports of electrical equipment, Indian manufacturers who created extra capacity are now finding it difficult to utilize it. To more optimally utilize their production capacities, they need to focus on expanding overseas and establish an Indian footprint globally. In ELECRAMA 2014, we have taken a unique theme of ‘Go Global’ wherein our idea is to focus on global competitiveness of products manufactured in India. We have got the necessary infrastructure and the capability to develop world class engineering products at competitive costs. Today all the top global players in the power equipment have presence in India. They have set up state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and are producing products which are not only sold in the country but also sold back to their home countries as well. Thus, they are able to sell at a price higher than what they sell here but can recover premium as it is still lower than what is sold in their home countries. Like the earlier ELECRAMAs, which have been successful and have helped the industry, the forthcoming event will also be definitely a success. Developing nations of the Middle East, Central Asia, West Asia and Africa , South East Asia are undertaking electrification vigorously through funding from multilateral agencies like the World Bank, African Development Bank and IMF. Indian products have immense opportunities for capturing these markets. The Indian government has also realized the huge potential for exporting to Africa. South East Asian Countries especially Thailand, Bangkok and Vietnam participate on a large scale at ELERAMA. The ChangeXchange 2014 – 2nd Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM), supported by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, will allow participants from these countries to meet over 1,000 suppliers from India. The ChangeXchange 2014 will be the biggest meeting place of international buyers who plan to source electrical products and equipment from India. Africa has about 54 countries with a combined population of around 6.5 billion people. However, electrification in these countries is barely 30 per cent which means there is scope of the rest 70 per cent to get electrified. In this ELECRAMA 2014 surly there will be deals sanctioned and contracts signed even in this ELECRAMA thereby boosting significantly the exports of our products. The inaugural CIGRE Tutorial sessions were held at ELECRAMA 2012 which saw eminent international experts of CIGRE from France, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, South Africa, and USA. The key topics of tutorials converged were Insulated Cables, Sub Stations, Overhead Lines, Power System Protection & Automation. CIGRE provides an international forum to engineers working in various fields of Electricity Generation & High Voltage Transmission System with the objective to develop technical knowledge and exchange of information amongst countries, ELECRAMA 2014 will see a repeat of highly successful sessions.
