ELEVATION SNOW EVENT POSSIBLE Good morning everybody. As we get - TopicsExpress

ELEVATION SNOW EVENT POSSIBLE Good morning everybody. As we get closer to this weekends storm, it appears that its more likely that valley areas will see mainly rain, ending as a period of wet snow Saturday night, but that the higher elevation hilltowns could see up to a couple inches of wet snow. Today is the last day for mild 60s to 70 degree weather (warmest the more south and east you go). A cold front is already on our doorstep, and showers are moving into the Berkshires now. Everyone will see some of these later in the day and could see an isolated thunderstorm, too. Thursday and Friday cool down into the 50s, but with partly sunny skies. Then we look to the weekend. Low pressure will be diving southeast out of the Great Lakes, and will spawn secondary low pressure development off the east coast somewhere. Where this happens is uncertain, but it is sure to bring a cold rain for New England this weekend, with wet snow eventually mixing in, and a full on snowstorm in northern NH and much of Maine, where they could get over half a foot of snow! Again, this seems like it will be elevation-dependent in terms of the higher likelihood for it to snow hard and long enough to stick to the warm Autumn ground. Its a changeable situation, and needs to be monitored. Highs will only be in the 40s this weekend, and it seems likely that Monday morning could feature a widespread hard freeze for southern New England, with the coldest air of the season moving. We rebound into the 50s next week. Have a great day!
