EMAIL FROM MEMBER RE: LEAVING CHILD AT HOME ALONE: Hi, I am a single mum to a 12 year old boy. Im currently in university and work part time. There are approximately 2 days every week that I have to leave my son alone for no more that 2 hours (more often its much less than this). He is independent, has a phones, does not open the door as he locks it behind him and obviously has a door key. I live no family that are close by and no real friends in this area. I have been yelled at by my sons sperm donor tonight and told this this is out of order. Although his dad pays CSA, he does nothing else with my son. During weekends that he has my son, he has been known to ask his sister to have my son over night so that he can go out drinking. He has this evening told me Im a bad parent. Am I wrong to be leaving my son for short periods? Is this or is this acceptable? Am I a bad mum? Please help.
