EMERGENCY HEARING: These were the conditions of a home in the 400 block of Sycamore Rd Picayune, MS. On Saturday, September 27th around 2pm, Pearl River Country Sheriff was called out to the home. Approximately 30-40 dogs and puppies were found; 4-5 puppies were laying in filth near the mom and their eyes werent even open yet, another 4 puppies about 6 weeks old were kenneled without food or water. According to the deputy, the sheriff had been called out to the home at least twice in the past year. It was learned through her Facebook posts, the breeder, who was previously foreclosed on moved to New Orleans around Aug 25, leaving the dogs behind. Once this video was posted online, later that evening, a UHaul truck was seen outside the home. Sunday morning, the dogs outside appeared to be gone. Later that morning we learned from the Deputy he was to meet the woman at the home that afternoon to remove the remaining dogs and that he would follow to the new location to view the conditions there. Again, a uHaul truck was seen in the drive around mid afternoon Sunday. The Picayune Item had a front page article about the abandoned home on 10/2/2014. The breeder continued to deny the allegations being made against her. Friday, 10/10/2914 it was confirmed by Picayune Police Department she was arrested on a city ordinance and 61 Australian Cattle Dogs were confiscated by the Pearl River County SPCA. A contact at the local SPCA confirmed the dogs were being kept in plastic and/or wire kennels, sometimes two to a kennel in small buildings without air condition or ventilation in the city of Picayune. An emergency hearing is to be held at the Picayune Police Department on Sunday, 10/12/2014 at 3pm to determine the fate of these dogs.
