EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE The book Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman (1995) is an excellent book for helping coaches help tennis parents and their children. The book clearly explains and redefines what it means to be smart. In tennis, ones EQ (Emotional Quotient) is more important than ones IQ. Check out the attached video clip. It is unfortunately true that when most players pick up their racquet, they reduce their capabilities to cope. Welby Van Horn used to say, When the typical kid picks up a racquet, they reduce their IQ in half. Like our post and your name goes in our raffle.
