EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Position title: Project Manager – Violence and Prevention Project Term: Term Position Closing date: October 27, 2014 Job Summary: The Native Women’s Association of Canada is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager to oversee a short-term project in the area of violence prevention. The successful candidate will have broad experience in project management and have the ability to work under a strict time-line. Essential Qualifications: Education: Successfully completed a Bachelor (minimum) or a Masters Degree (preferably) at a Canadian recognized university in any of the following fields: Sociology, Women’s Studies, Aboriginal Studies, Public Administration or other university degree with one or two years relevant experience. Experience: Must have previous experience in managing projects, managing staff, and establishing and maintaining relationships with Board of Directors, advisory committees and external partners. Experience in coordinating meeting events; gathering and synthesizing data and information, writing briefing documents, preparing meeting notes and follow-up actions as required. Must be knowledgeable of the issues affecting Aboriginal women. Additional requirements: The Senior Project Manager is expected to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals and groups. Knowledge of and experience working directly with Aboriginal women’s organizations would be an asset. Must possess superior communication skills, organizational skills, enthusiasm, self-motivation, adaptability, and the ability to delegate and complete assigned tasks, and a strong sense of responsibility are essential. Preference will be given to qualified Aboriginal candidates who meet the above qualifications.
