EMT Kim Horne Kim, On 07/03/14, you were assigned to a transport ambulance stationed at the Esplanade event. One of your colleagues made note that you observed how busy the adjacent medical tent was, dismounted from the ambulance and under your own initiative, began helping care for patients and other duties. He says, “the BLS assigned to the station were recruits, and your calm professional demeanor set an example for the recruits to emulate”. Your colleague also noted that when a patient was brought into the tent having an extreme anxiety reaction, “she immediately went to the patients side, and with her calm, professional and reassuring demeanor, appeased the patient, brought order to the station and negated the need for a transport unit, which were in short supply”. Your colleague noted that you are a shining example of the difference a seasoned, intelligent veteran BLS provider can have on a demanding scene.
