EPN EAGLES PRIDE NATION REPORT - Inside the Team - PHILADELPHIA EAGLES WAKE-UP CALL.. OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS TRAINING CAMP PREVIEW Leading up to Training Camp on July 25, we’ll have a position-by-position preview of the Eagles’ roster. We started with the Defensive Line and Quarterbacks. Now it’s on to the Outside Linebackers. Written by Sheil Kapadia (phillymag) STARTING LINE-UP OLB CONNOR BARWIN (6-4/264, Cincinnati Bearcats) OLB TRENT COLE (6-3/270, Cincinnati Bearcats) BACKUPs OLB MARCUS SMITH II (6-3/251, Louisville Cardinals) OLB BRANDON GRAHAM (6-2/265, Michigan Wolverines) OLB TRAVIS LONG (6-4/255, Washington State Cougars) The pressing question.. How much will Marcus Smith contribute as a rookie? This is one of the bigger overall summer questions for the Eagles. Moving from College to the NFL, rookies heads are often spinning during spring practices. Theyre in a new place with new teammates, new coaches and a new playbook. Thats why Smith spent most of OTAs and minicamp getting reps with the third team behind Connor Barwin and Bryan Braman at the Jack spot. Once he returns to the practice field in a couple weeks, coaches will expect him to start showing progress. While the Eagles drafted Smith with an eye on the future, they expect him to contribute this season. Barring a setback, look for M-Smith to move up quickly to the 2nd team. Hell also start to learn the Predator position. The smart bet is that Smith will begin the season as a rotational player behind C-Barwin and T-Cole. But the coaches wont throw him out there unless hes ready. … phillymag/birds247/2014/07/16/eagles-wake-call-olb-training-camp-preview/ -PhillyBird- (EPN Eagles Pride Nation)
