ERIK GRATEFUL FOR ROBERTOS ASSIST Erik Lamela praised Roberto Soldado for the part he played in our first goal against Brighton & Hove Albion. Argentine international Erik stepped off the bench to fire us into the lead against the Championship side in Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup fourth round tie – netting his third goal in as many games after last week’s spectacular brace opposite Asteras Tripolis. Striker Roberto played a key role in the build-up as an intricate exchange between him and Erik led to the latter coolly slotting home from just inside the box. Harry Kane sealed the win later on, with Erik thrilled to get back on the scoresheet. “Soldado passed it back to me for my goal – it was a very good assist,” said the 22-year-old. “I am happy with the finish. “When I came on I knew I had to try to play the same as last week in the Europa League. We needed to attack but make sure we were tight in defence as well. “Overall I am very happy because we won and we’ve continued in the cup.” We’ll face Newcastle United in the fifth round of the competition in the week commencing December 15. An exact date for the fixture is to be confirmed
