ESSENTIAL INTEREST TO ALL WHO SEEK EXISTENCE: I wanted to empathize this essential point about existentialism, as my good comrade The digital pointed out, this way of life is not for a fragile ego or personality. You will discover truths that are disturbing, and even frightening, but you will also become truth, not know it, become it. You will find your indestructible, although you may not even be aware till afterwards. I know its difficult to understand, because you have to find it your own way. I can provide key points or directives, which do not have to BE followed to find it, they are basics that someone else came up with. There are no rules. I do not believe in arbitrary rules, we have existed for hundreds of thousands of years working together by cooperation and our innate humanity, pushing out those who defect from their obligation. The existentialist has his own rules, what he does is good, but, by asserting that he creates his own rules , he is also the only when responsible for his actions and must take accountability only with in himself. We must not take another s liberty, we must not take another property, we must not take another life, unless our life is at stake, and even then it is provisional, whether we believe their life is more necessary than ours. There is no wrong or right. We live in a universe built by evolution, evolution is neither kind, nor cruel it is indifferent-until!.... We, however, as a species are gregarious by our nature. When I say must, take that as a provisional, I do not want to infer any absolutes-there are no absolutes. We are a product of evolution and this way of Being is also a part of evolution-It is about change, evolving into a human that you find and create, not the human you are now, a human manufactured by conformity, society, culture, tradition, group think, etc. Not that these are all bad, like I said no absolutes. What is upsetting about this is that it has gone too far, now our society is a society of alienation, loneliness, despair, and depression. But this is not seen, only observed. Here is a passage from The Plague, by Albert Camus---[ Thus, the people of the town are forced into constructing concrete illusions of everyday normalcy to forget the reality of their inescapable surrounding. Distraction is displacement from disorder. And when the gates of the town are shut and no one is allowed to enter or leave they psychological effect associated with exile. Separation, despair, and alienation. It is at this point in the story which I can can see the analogy with the Holocaust and the exile of the Jews. A sudden desperation appears over the towns people like a black cloud of permanence. They are in fact cut off from the rest of the world. Uncertainty is a form of psychological torture. This grave horror of hopelessness is felt intimately as the dead or dying are their close friends and family members. Isolation, detachment, suspicion, and despondency became staple forms of alleviating stress. By keeping distance from others they can create an emotional distance by eliminating any reminders of this devastating reality. But this too has its own form of pathological symptoms. They contrive themselves never to think of the problematic day. Future and past blend together to further themselves farther from hope, which at this point is the thing needed the most. They are is a state defined as fatalism. Their imaginations now hostile to the past, impatient to the present, and cheated of the future. In effect like ghosts shadows, for even ghosts conjure up some form of memory of a living past. The towns peoples lives become a stand by waiting game. Complacent for a visit from an unforeseeable and unknowable phantom. and yes we are in the midst of a plague people, trust me.]---We are in The plague of Illusion and Fantasy. This is worse than the black death for it does not eat itself out of existence, this plague is ever consuming and perpetual. Daniel Borrstin, warns We risk being the first people in history to have been able to make their illusions so vivid, so persuasive, so realistic that they cam live in them. We are the most illusioned people on earth. Yet we dare not become disillusioned, because our illusions are the very house in which we live; they are our news, our heroes, our adventurer, our forms of art, our very experience. I have much more, even several Senators who are beside themselves as to how to fix this, because their is no fix. To fix it would be to tear it all apart. I do believe their is, however, a way for the minority of us who do realize this to at least save ourselves from ourselves- I have met the enemy and he is us- We can find ourselves in truth and form. We can fight to continue in the face of futility, this , this my friends is how an existentialist endures and existence comes to him. When all hope betrays him, he climbs and pushes even harder, when despair trys to drag him back to the bottom he clings on with cold, hard, and bloody fingers-He is alive!!, when sorrow fills his being with emptiness and weakness he reaches deep, very deep and finds his resolve of strength grabs on to the small twig to pull him self up to a cliff half way up and with winds of cold and ice battle his flesh and bones looks to the sky and says, Its not that bad. Thank you mother nature for giving me this opportunity to be with you, alone. I love you for the opportunity you gave me and I will not fail you, you are I and I you-We travel together. The sky clears a tiny hole in the sky revealing a slight brightness of light from our brother sun Gentle men of the jury, no! She is not that cruel, for I have met her She needs to be loved and welcomed. This is not difficult! She lies in wait- within YOU. Yes, she is you and you are her. Go, go find her, she will wait. Patience is her expertise! As I am learning and understanding more of this complicated way of creating life, a real live and living existence I had to provide further review and key concepts which go along with this essay: As i have presented in numerous essays existentialism is not really a philosophy, it is a new type of philosophizing. In philosophy you are a spectator you read and observe form a distance, no involvement. Right? Existentialism is not about passiveness, you are the actor , the player involved by participating. Thus, in understanding this concept you can never really understand existentialism if he/she preserves the role of spectator. The existentialist world is in fact a stage and all those who really want to know the doctrine for themselves will have to live in this world as players, each with his own exists and entrances, each with his own drama of life to enact. what does this men? Now this is a key concept for you to work on your own, to really get this you have to place yourself in a conflicting or otherwise situation which there are no answers, no help, or way out through use past experience and learning. The environment and context are foreign. Which could involve placing yourself in a dangerous and possibly deadly predicament. But what becomes of you is being, who becomes his own “truth”; alive and authentic. For it was you who grabbed down deep into your true being and acquired the will the strive to find a way. “The Indestructible” In what what way? Maybe a way out? A way in? It is for you to figure that out; as I elucidated before you are the actor, there is no correct way or codes or rules. When an existentialist chooses values, he cannot choose evil as such. He must choose good, because , because by his very act of voluntary, personal choice, he is affirming a worthwhile value. The good for the existentialist if always positive affirmation of the self. Evil lies in following the crowd..However, the act of free choice involves personal responsibility for its commission. Do no harm, take no liberty or property away from anyone. Furthermore, the student must not be shielded from his consequences, it is those consequences that play a role in how he will choose to act. To developed self-reliance as the keys to character, the student must experience extreme loneliness and frustration. There are no moral codes to follow here. Nor guides of actions. You must look within yourself for these when placed in a situation where the solution to way out lies inside you. There is no mom or dad to call, or money to rely on, or even hope. To take advantage of outside help only serves to takes you farther away from you, and closer to non-existence. Most Americans do not exist they are not alive nor are they dead, they are neither. That is the purpose of existentialism to observe our selves in form of truth. The existential teacher has three goals 1. the treatment of subject manner in such a way as to discover its truth in free association-Basically by discussing it after providing a generalized view of it. 2.autonomous functioning of the mind in such a way to produce in his charges a type of character that is free, charitable, and self moving 3.Evidence that his student hold something to be true because they have convinced themselves that it is true. Not that truth is revealed, but rather it has been brought out afresh by the individual-He/she finds it through the first two. Man is always what he is yet to be; and the true human is the one whose face is toward the future, whose life is yet to be made. Man is not a stone or a plant and cannot rest his case on the fact that he is present in the midst of the world; man is man only by his refusal to be passive, by the urge which thrusts him toward things with the aim of dominating and shaping them; for him, to exist is to remake existence, to live is to will to live. Not like in dominating animals or living entities, but dominating fears, conflicts, obstacles. By-Mark Miller
