ESTABLISHMENT OF DATU SAWAZISHA FUND BOARD Section 5 (1) of the DATU Sawazisha Fund Act under the establishment of the board states that the management of the Fund shall vest in a Management Board consisting of among others:- (d)Two representatives from each Sub-County elected by the Ward Committees whereby they should ensure gender parity, youth and persons with disability are well represented. To conform with the requirements of the Act, it was agreed at the County DATU fund Ward Committees forum held on 22nd September in Wundanyi that the eight positions be distributed as follows Voi: Youth and a Woman Mwatate : PWD and Woman(youth) Wundanyi : PWD(man) and Youth Taveta: PWD and Woman Section 7 of the act gives the functions of the Board which shall be to - Provide access to capital and finances to women, the youth and persons with disability groups in the County; Formulate policies for the management of the Fund; Raise and solicit funds and other assistance for the Fund; Set the criteria and conditions for granting of loans; Receive gifts, donations, grants or endowments made to the Fund and Board; Establish and maintain links with other persons, bodies or organizations within or outside Kenya, as the Board may consider appropriate for the furtherance of the purposes for which the Fund is established; Prepare quarterly and annual reports on the operations and performance of the Fund for submission to the Governor and County Assembly; Consider and entertain appeals from the Ward Committees; and Perform and exercise all other functions and powers conferred on the Board by this Act or any other law. Those willing to contest for election as Sub-County representatives to the board and as per Sub County Quota indicated in the table, should forward their names to the Sub -County Administrator on or before Friday, 17th October 2017. Elections will be held on Tuesday, 21st October 2014 in every sub-county. Ward Committee members will be the electors but ARE NOT eligible to contest.
