ETERNAL SECURITY (THE HYMNS) With 2 posts left to go, I want to take a very short walk through some popular hymns that we sing but we don’t believe in because we do not know the depth of the words and the minds that birthed them. Most of these hymns that Im going to discuss, here and in the next post discusses mainly the beauty of our assured anchor in Christ. But im sure that 97% of those who sing it do not appreciate its meaning (1) BLESSED ASSURANCE Blessed ASSURANCE, JESUS IS MINE Oh what a foretaste of glory divine HEIR of salvation PURCHASE of God BORN of his Spirit WASHED in his blood This is my story This is my song Praising my savior All the day long This is my story This is my song. Do u see the word ASSURANCE there? Ours is a BLESSED ASSURANCE not a blessed INSURANCE. Do u see those realities the writer (Crosby) said? HEIR, PURCHASE, BORN, WASHED. None of those realties are done twice and none of them are reversible. Furthermore, for every redeemed souls, This is our STORY, this is our SONG. No other song and story should be in our mouth. I love the last stanza of the hymn, there is a line that says ‘perfect submission, all is at REST. I in my savior am happy and blest’ (2) THE SOLID ROCK My hope (trust) is built on nothing less Than Jesus blood and righteousness I dare not trust the sweetest frame But wholly LEAN on Jesus Name On Christ, the SOLID rock I stand All other GROUND is sinking sand… This is awesome. Our hope, our faith, our lives, our assurance is built on nothing except on Jesus blood and his righteousness. It is not built on Man’s efforts neither is it built on Man’s blood and righteousness. We are the most pitied if we trust in the sweetest frame (it means MAN). The sweetest frame is the frame of Man, his efforts, his strength, his works. Unlike the Solid Rock of Christ, all other ground, the ground of our works, the ground of our efforts, the ground of our strength are all sinking sands. They can hold for a while but they wont hold for long. Also, I love the last stanza of this hymn When he shall come with trumpet sound Oh may I then in him be fiund DRESSED IN HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ALONE FAULTLESS to stand before the throne…OMG, this is DEEP. Did I just hear FAULTLESS TO STAND BEFORE THE THRONE? (3) THROUGH THE LOVE Through the love of God our Savior, All will be well; Free and changeless is His favor; All, all is well. Precious is the blood that healed us; PERFECT is the GRACE that sealed us; Strong the hand stretched out to shield us; All must be well. Does anyone know this hymn? Free and changeless is his favour. IT doesn’t change. PERFECT is the Grace that healed us. Am I hearing anyone shouting? Perfect is the grace that sealed us. It is not an imperfect grace nor is it like Nigerian contractors that start and will never complete a project. And the sealing is also perfect. Oh I love this song. The second stanza says Though we pass through tribulation, All will be well; Ours is such a full salvation; All, all is well. HAPPY still in God CONFIDING, Fruitful, if in Christ abiding, Holy through the Spirit’s guiding, All must be well. This is profound. Ours is a full salvation. It is not a half deposit. Saint, Jesus paid a full payment. When he said IT IS FINISHED, he meant it. We are happily confiding in God and as far as we are abiding in Christ ,our holiness is dependent not our moralistic/intellectual G.P.S but on the Holy Spirit’s guiding. And in all thru all...ALL IS WELL. Dear Saint, are u still under the heavy bludgeoning of sins and guilt. U think u r unforgivable and unlovable. Ur soul is sinking under the shame filled whisper of Satan. Your body is a home to sores and wounds and very soon u predict u’ll see ur soul under the Red Sea with the armies of Pharaoh shouting victory over ur carcass. Well dear, Pharaoh is dead. He aint breathing. He is dead under the red sea. And keep ur eye on the Cross, u don’t even need a full eye sight on him. In and Out, Up and Down. Ur soul is safe with Christ and ALL IS WELL. TO be continued.
