Happy Metal Monday from the frozen mid west. Seeing as how Im in Minnesota this week, I figured it would only be fair to highlight a metal band from the gopher state itself. I sampled several bands, including Reflections, featuring some heavy grumble metal tracks. Blue Felix, who look and sound like a thrash metal band straight out of the Mad Max universe. Azrael, a black metal band with an unexpectedly common band name. But of all the bands I heard, Powermad is the band I enjoyed the most. Part power metal, part speed metal, they were founded in 1984 in Minneapolis, and apparently have recently started recording again. Theyre cheesy, theyre classic, they dont take themselves too seriously, and theyre a blast to listen to. I really wish they had a Facebook page... Powermad has few tracks on YouTube, but the one that caught my attention was Nice Dreams, a fun little track with a nice tempo, and good riffs. Stay warm, and Ill see you next week.
