ETHNIC RIGHTS: LEGISLATION ON PROGRESS ------------------------------------ Speaker of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw union parliament Thura U Shwe Mann received national races ministers to talk about drafting The bill on protection of national races rights at parliament building in Nay Pyi Taw, on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by speakers of the two parliament houses, parliamentary committee chairmen and 29 national races ministers. Speaker Thura U Shwe Man said that the meeting will be a help for the national unity, national reconsolidation, internal peace process being undertaken by the parliaments. The bill was proposed by U T. Khun Myat of Kut Khaing constituency and is under discussion at the parliament. So, the Speaker Thura U Shwe Mann invited suggestions from the national races ministers saying, efforts will be made for the bill to come into force soon and the role of national races ministers will be promoted through the bill. Chairman of Pyithu Hluttaw Bill Committee U T. Khun Myat explained the progress of drafting the bill and those present made suggestions. The meeting concluded with the speakers remarks.Speaker Thura U Shwe Man later received deputy minister of Foreign Affairs Martin Tlapa of Czech Republic on a separate occasion.
