$ETTLE UP: Senate Control >> Georgia On Our Minds Election Day is November 4, 2014 and the battle for control of the United States Senate looms in the balance. But, we may not know who controls the Senate until January 6. Louisiana features a nonpartisan blanket primary, or Jungle Primary. All candidates run on November 4 and if none secure 50% or more of the vote the top candidates go to a run-off election. Polling between incumbent Mary Landrieu (D) and the leading Republican Bill Cassidy has them both below 50% but close, when all of the candidates are factored in support drops to less than 40% for either one of them. This almost guarantees a run off on December 6. Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss’s retirement created an open seat. It features David Perdue (R) and Michelle Nunn (D) facing off in a statistical dead heat. If neither wins a 50% or more of the vote on November 4, the runoff election will take place on January 6. If either one of these races becomes the pivotal seat for control of the Chamber be prepared to see SuperPACs and major national groups play a huge impact.
