EVACUATION NOTICE - For residents of Pomonal, Bellfield, Lake Fyans, Halls Gap, Lake Lonsdale- There is a fast moving bushfire in the 18KM SOUTH WEST OF DADSWELLS BRIDGE area. This fire is out of control and is expected to impact anytime this afternoon. If you are located in Pomonal, Bellfield, Lake Fyans, Halls Gap, Lake Lonsdale, it is strongly recommended that you evacuate and seek shelter at the Relief Centre at the Stawell Leisure Centre 49-51 Houston Street, Stawell. You should travel to Stawell via the Grampians Road. Turn on your vehicle headlights and drive slowly; smoke will make it difficult to see. This advice is current to 3:00PM evacuation after this time is considered life threatening. After 3:00PM it may be too late to leave, take shelter when the fire arrives - protect yourself from the fires heat. Last resort options include a Neighbourhood Safer Place, a stationary car in a cleared area, a ploughed paddock or reserve or body of water like a swimming pool or dam. If you are away from home; do not return. If you choose to stay, emergency services may not be able to help you. The fire in the Northern Grampians is now over 11,000ha in size. A wind change is expected anytime in the next three to five hours, which may cause the fire to change direction towards Halls Gap.
