EXTRACT OF MAIL WRITTEN TO PRESIDENT ICAI, Dated: 22/11/2013 The President ICAI New Delhi Sir, Please refer to the trailing mail. Through several mails, we requested your good office/Secretary ICAI,to direct the Faridabad Branch, to submit the amount of donations, collected for the Uttrakhand victims, 5 months ago, ; either directly to PM Relief Fund or send it to ICAI HQ for onward remittance to PM relief fund. During last conversation, Secretary ICAI, informed us that he has asked Faridabad Branch to remit the donations amount to ICAI. Even a mail was written to CC member and ex-officio member of this Branch to look into this matter. But in his latest mail, dated 21/11/2013; the Branch Chairman shown his adamancy to go to Uttrakhnad and spend the amount with the help of an NGO. We are sorry to say, no strict action, from your office ,and adamancy of the Branch Chairman; forced one of senior member of the Faridabad Branch to lodge grievance with Prime Minister Office, for not remitting the donations to PM relief fund, till date. Sir, tommorrow, if any enquiry comes from Prime Minister Office, in this regard, whether this will bring a good name to the ICAI, just for the adamancy of a Branch Chairman, and lack of strict action on the part of your office. You have already submitted cheque of 65.00 lacs plus to the PM of India, for PM Relief fund. Members donated funds on the call of ICAI and not on the call of the Branch. This whole episode, requires serious thought, whether in future branches should be allowed to collect donations in their own accounts, in the name of ICAI. Please think, why all the donations can not be collected on behlaf of ICAI in one centralised online account, and the branches be barred from collection donations. Time to time, we have sent various evidences how the branches are involved in non-cpe activities and misutilising our funds on Diwali,Holi celebration,Eid, Family Get togethers,Cultural evenings on CA day, Cricket Tournaments,Ganeshutsav and many more such activities. We draw your kind attention to the activities of Faridabad,Jaipur, Noida, Gwalior, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Vasai Branch. If proper course is adopted, there will be many branches, involved in such activities. As member of this august institute, we are unable to understand, why your office is hesitant/unable to take action, in this regard. We are sure,such activities are not permitted by the ICAI and request you to kindly, advise the statutory auditors of the Branches, to specificaly report all such activities and the amount spent thereon. Time again, to rethink the role of ex-officio members, in the Branches. Branches are doing so many violations, in their presence, but these ex-officio members remains silent. Deep Jain : All CC members EXTRACT OF MAIL RECEIVED FROM SENIOR MEMBER OF THE BRANCH,INFORMING LODGING GRIEVANCE WITH PM OFFICE: Friends, Since last few days, we are receiving mails, where in one of the member of our branch is requesting the Branch Chairman of Faridabad to remit the donations collected, in the name of Uttrakhand victims to PM Relief Fund. In this regard, he had even written several mails to Secretary ICAI and the Ex-officio and CC member of the Branch. It seems, there is some malafide intention of the Branch, for keep sitting on the funds, since last 5 months. It appears that the purpose for which the donations were taken and the sentiments with which such donations were given by us, both stands defeated. There fore, seeing no option available to us, we thought fit to put grievance to the PM office, since donations were collected for PM Relief fund. EXTRACT OF GRIEVANCE SENT TO PMO: Faridabad Branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, collected donations of apprx. 7.00 lacs, for on ward remittance to PM relief fund for Uttrakhand Victims. But we have come to know ,after 5 months, these funds are still lying with that Branch. We are feeling cheated, even some of our members written in this regard to Secretary ICAI, but of no use.
