Ea1 Teach1 Matt18:24-35 The Unforgiving Debtor.... Back in the Bible Days, the consequence was serious for those who couldnt pay their debts. Someone lending money could come get you and your family, forcing you to work the debt off. They could even put you in prison, or your family could be sold into slavery to repay the debt. In prison the debtor was to sell his possessions or his family would pay the debt to get him out. If he couldnt pay the debtor would remain in prison for life. Does any of this sound familiar? Doesnt it sound like some instances now? The debtor asks can you give me a pass on the debt I dont have it right now but when I get it I will give it to you. He was shown compassion and given a pass on his debt. He went on his way and ran across one who owed him a debt, he tried to assault the man. The man asked may I have a pass I will pay when I have it. The debtor was thrown into prison. Word got back to the person that had given you a pass and you are asked why would you not give him a pass, I gave you one. This is the example of forgiveness for what you do or owe me, but we wont do the same for another brother or sister. A man will rot in prison because he cant afford proper council to assist him on his behalf. People kill your family because you owe them and cant pay. These things happen today so take time to read, study and pray. To God be the glory for this story and His message! Amen
