Each day seems to have a flavor of adventure, or should I say in the case of today, lack there of! Somewhere along the line of supply from the order at the hospital to give Rick two cans of Glucerna 4 times a day via the PEG tube to our residence the supply dried up. Thursday night was the last we had from the hospital and the delivery didnt arrive until after 9pm. The delivery man got caught in the Christmas parade!😁. The delivery was 24 cans...3 days worth, Friday Saturday and Sunday. Nothing for him today....except Renee went to the pharmacy and got some because we were to get a delivery today of 3 cases. It was not sent because the insurance company only authorized one case and they were waiting on authorization for 3 cases more. After about 4 hours on the phone, half on hold, I was informed that is takes 24-48 hours to get to talk to the right person and 15 or more days to process the authorization...hmmmm...some insurance. Care Centrix is supposed to have negotiated the doctors orders before we left the hospital. Blue cross blue shield will get back to me within 2 business days. Needless to say, we had to do another pharmacy run, so we have another 2 days worth. I am very grateful the hospital gave him 30 days on his medication before he left. The physical therapist came today. Really good man and was able to give Rick some exercises that dont wear me out. Told him to be deliberate in his activity aka slow down and think before you move and move slower so you have more control. We are reading our book A Graceful Waiting. I cant honestly say at this point that it is making my bells chime...but we trod the road that many before us have dealt with and when someone says stroke or head injury or braid malfunction of any kind it will illicit much more than before. Even this therapist says it will be 6 months or more before Rick will be walking. Ricks physical strength and his cognitive ability at this point (never lost it) are to his advantage and he is working it. Thank you all again for your prayers and help. Well fellowship all together again soon, and very soon...God give you peace and rest tonight.
