Each day we receive calls from individuals facing extraordinary challenges. Rene is one of these people. He called needing help, and needing it now. Between medical bills and everything else, he was having a tough time coming up the funds to purchase food for Isis, his best friend and protector. And when he called, we answered. Because in light of the numerous health challenges that he is faced with each day, Rene still smiles that sweet smile. And so much of that smile can be attributed to the beautiful Basenji you see in this photo. Aside from comfort and companionship, Isis helps Rene in so many aspects of his life. Perhaps most important is alerting him of potential danger. Rene truthfully conceded, She protects me because I cant protect myself, a tough reality for this former successful property owner. Now a victim of cancer and a recent stroke, Rene will most likely be confined to this chair for the rest of his life. Spend a few minutes with Rene and Isis and their bond will melt your heart. It is the kind of love that can only be called unconditional, that of a person and his dog.
